Tricyanomethanides

Tricyanomethanides (tcm) are interesting in different ways. They do not only form various structures due to the different possible coordination modes of the anion, but also consist of an attractive research topic due to their electronic situation, i.e. the degree of delocalization, the reflection in the structure and the consequent influence on their properties. Amazingly, tcm ions emit at extremely low energy (500 nm). Finally, the tcm compounds could be additionally used as precursors for nitrides or carbides.
