Project work:

1. The immobilization and patterning of vesicles on solid supports may provide a confined environment for studying the kinetics of biochemical reactions and the applications in protein chips, sensors, microanalysis and micro-reactors. This project is concerned with the site-selective assembly of colloidal polystyrene particles and block polymer vesicles onto laterally patterned thiol monolayer at mesoscale dimensions by means of electrostatic interactions.

2. Protein resistant surfaces is of great interest for variety of biomedical applications where reducing protein adsorption can benefit biomedical device performance. This project is about using Quartz-Crystal Microbalance (QCM) to monitor in situ protein adsorption on non-fouling polymer brushes surfaces, which synthesized by surface-initiated polymerization that present short oligo(ethylene glycol) side chains.
